Since November 2020, I am an Assistant Professor of Law & Economics at Utrecht University. I am also a researcher (principal investigator of a Junior STAR project) at Charles University and an affiliated researcher at KU Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

I have received a joint PhD in economics from KU Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Here is my CV. My research is focused on political, legal and institutional aspects affecting public procurement markets.

New paper accepted! Identifying Politically Connected Firms: A Machine Learning Approach (with Deni Mazrekaj and Fritz Schiltz) accepted in Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics (11/2023).

New paper accepted! “The Cost of Favoritism in Public Procurement” (with Bruno Baranek) accepted in Journal of Law and Economics (08/2023).

Two grants: I have received two new grants: Starting Grant at Utrecht University (280,000 euros, PI) and from IKEA Foundation (120,000 euros; as co-PI of WP) together with SKAO. Both aim to research sustainable public procurement (06/2023).

I have been appointed to the management board of the Utrecht University Centre for Public Procurement (10/2022).

DemoTrans: The Interchange between Democratic Institutions and the Globalisation of the Economy (Horizon Europe RIA grant; circa 2.7M EUR). I am a WP Leader in the consortium with KU Leuven, Charles Uni, Uni Bergen.

I have been nominated as an expert on the mission of TAIEX of the European Commission in Ecuador. The mission was on Early Warning System for Risks Related to Corruption in Public Procurement and took place between February 21st and 23rd 2022.
